It is so hard to ask for help, and to share our personal story. There is no other way to get my 13 year old daughter the residential treatment that she so desperately needs, so I am here begging for help:

My beautiful, smart, vivacious loving 13 year old daughter is in desperate need of residential DBT mental health care, and we don't have insurance that will cover it and have no way to pay for it ourselves. She has had a lifetime of emotional abuse, has been in outpatient therapy since she was young, and in 2017 was devastated by an intensely painful trauma and betrayal - so painful that she eventually started to shut down and self harm as a way of coping. The isolation from the pandemic made things so much worse, and in August she began to severely self harm and wish she were dead. In the past three months she has had over 200 stitches, and has mutilated her legs, arms and face. She has been inpatient in 7 different units (twice now to the State Mental Health facility), and now is hopeless for any chance of recovery. Last Friday she was discharged from a private inpatient unit (over my protest because she was speaking freely of her intent to again severely self harm and her hope of dying), and within half an hour attempted suicide. After a weekend at Children's Hospital getting medical care, she was again transferred to the State Mental Health Facility where she has already three times been strapped to The Restraint Board for 2 hours each time. She is petrified, depressed, and hopeless. Her only goal is to kill herself, believing that since we cannot afford residential DBT treatment she has no chance of ever recovering and living a normal life.

She receives state health insurance through her father, and our state does not cover residential mental health care. Neither he, his new wife, nor I have insurance that would cover residential treatment for her, and our incomes cannot come close to covering it. She needs help, and this is the only possible way of being able to afford to get it for her.
