Mercedes medical expenses
Dear friends, on this occasion we want to request your support for my aunt Mercedes, 77 years old (my mother's sister) who suffered a fall and broke her hip. Due to the emergency, we managed to get her treated in a public hospital here in Guatemala.
Unfortunately, the hospital did not go well, since the leg that was operated on was dislocated and there was a large sore on the lumbar part of her back along with two more sores on the heels of her feet. This made his health condition worsen. She suffered septic shock or septicemia on the third day after leaving the hospital.
This means that she had an infection throughout her body, in addition, she suffered shock or fright from her fall which caused periods of dementia that worsened after her operation. The decision was made to take her to a private hospital out of fear of what she had suffered. Here they managed to treat her for approximately 10 days.
It was necessary to have blood transfusions because she had low platelets, and to treat the infections with strong antibiotics. They told us that it was necessary to do the hip prosthesis operation again because the bone consolidation was going poorly, the prosthesis had an infection and all this was going to prevent her from having the possibility of walking again. She also needed to have her sores scraped because there was already dead tissue.
This is what has affected us the most as a family, seeing her suffer from the pain of her operation and then the sores. Since the sore on her back Is gross and the hospital supplies for her cures are very expensive, like her pain medication. We managed to get her out of the hospital because if she had stayed there the costs would have continued to increase.
We have needed the care of a nurse 24 hours a day due to her condition. Her only son (my cousin) together with the family have supported in everything we could, but this has been too costly financially, so today we want to knock on the doors of your heart and with great sadness ask for your help to be able to continue covering her expenses such as medical supplies, medications, treatment for their sores, special food, and the 24-hour nursing care she needs.
God bless you for every contribution or offering with which you can support us. No matter the amount, everything will be a great blessing to our family, especially to our aunt who has been a woman of faith, dedicated to serving her neighbors and church. We trust that we are not alone and that God holds our hands in this entire process.
God bless you greatly.
