On February 13th, Conner was simply a child—carefree, full of trust, and excited for the possibilities ahead. By February 14th, that innocence was stolen. He was wrongfully accused by another student of a crime he did not commit. The weight of this false accusation has been devastating, not only because of its untruth but because the system that should have protected him failed to do so. The school chose to stand behind the accuser’s story, influenced by a parent who sat on the district school board.

For a 8th grader who had never known the harshness of the world, this was more than just an accusation—it was a betrayal. His trust in the school system, in fairness, and in justice was shaken. His parents fought tirelessly to protect him, determined that his future would not be defined by lies. They stood against powerful voices to ensure their son’s name remained untarnished, and they continue to fight this battle even now.

Amidst this storm, Conner showed remarkable courage. He asked his parents for the chance to attend the New Mexico Military Institute, a boarding school known for its discipline, leadership, and academic rigor. Though leaving home as a freshman in high school—his very first time away from family—was a daunting step, he saw this as his path forward. A chance to rise above the injustice, rebuild his sense of purpose, and find an environment where he could grow without fear.

This decision reflects strength beyond his years. While most 9th graders are just beginning to navigate high school, Conner is facing challenges no child should endure. Yet instead of giving up, he is choosing to fight for his education, his character, and his future.
