My dad was a wonderful man. He gave a lot while requesting very little in return. He fought valiantly for three years while in hospice. Trying to hang on, in order to support his wife, he wanted to stay as long as he could. We sadly lost him last year. My mother had a financial difficulty as a result. Social Security does not support my mother adequately. Her home is still subject to a $50,000 debt. We try to be of assistance, but things are getting increasingly tight.

 I promised to take our mother on a cruise before my father passed away. He had always intended to take her, but life and later health problems prevented him from doing so. It was one of a very few regrets he had in life. I told him I am committed to go on a cruise with her. We are working on making it happen for her. The three of us will spend $12,000 on the 10-day cruise. (My mother, myself, and my husband)

The house my mother lives in is ancient and needs work. It needs plumbing upgrades, foundation repairs, a new front porch, and new front steps. Foundations estimate is $17, 000, plumbing estimate is $7,000 and a front porch and new steps estimate is $ 6,000. Any money received will go to the house debt first, then the cruise, then finally the repairs needed.
