It is with profound sorrow and broken hearts that we seek your kind donation in order that we may lay my mother Catalina Mendez to rest. She fought a great battle, but unfortunately she was not able to pull through. As her son, I Francisco Mendez, fought alongside her in attempts to honor her wishes and will to keep living. Now we face an upcoming funeral and find ourselves in the need for assistance in giving my mom a proper burial. She was on fixed social security income, and I was her care provider through the In Home Supportive Services here in California. We were both pretty much on fixed incomes, with no real opportunity to save up for the inevitable. I love my mom and couldn't bring myself to put her in a nursing home, so I took it upon myself to care for her until she passed. It wasn't easy, but it was the least I could do for her.
