Mom’s Surgery Fund
From Mom!
Hey y’all —
This is one of the hardest (and most humbling) things I’ve ever had to write, but I’m learning that sometimes we have to lean on others when life gets heavy….and it is soooo heavy right now.
I’ve reached the point where I have to have my hip replaced….like in the next couple months. The pain has gotten so bad….bad enough that it’s affecting my ability to work my job and I’ve had to turn down several baking orders because I just can’t do the “before and after work” that I was doing….and honestly sometimes just to walk across a room is a challenge.
My reality is…..without help, I simply can’t afford to have the surgery — and without the surgery, I’ll eventually be unable to keep working at all. My doctors had hoped that weight loss would take some of the pressure off of the old injury, but even with the 40+ weight loss, the pain is still progressing.
My kids (and a few friends) encouraged me to let them set up this fund, because the costs are more than I can manage alone. Between doctor visits/surgery deductibles, physical therapy after surgery and lost income……..it’s a lot to face.
This isn’t easy for me to share….this whole thing is just 🤦♀️ (especially knowing there are so many others in a worse place than I am) but I’m trying to let my pride take a back seat for once and let God take control of this one…..and after a lot of internal wrestling and a LOT of prayer, and having a few people reach out and ask if they could help in any way……..this is me surrendering my trust to Him and hoping that any judgement that comes my way….goes without me knowing about it. I think that anyone who knows me, will understand how incredibly difficult this is for me to do.
If you wish to give, please know that every little bit can help make this surgery a possibility. Funds raised will go towards the 20% out of pocket medical, 40% out of pocket physical therapy, recovery costs and lost income. And if you are wishing to give with your prayers, love, support and shares……that means just as much. If this fundraiser is shared a certain amount of times, the site will donate to my fund, so if you feel led to, please share the link.
My goal is simple: to have the surgery, recover fully and get back to living life — no more crawling through life just surviving day to day! The last several months have made me painfully aware of how much life I have been missing. My kids, my family, church, friends, so many special events….just missed!!!
Thank y’all for taking the time to read this, for caring about me, for walking this journey with me and for always supporting me and my kids with love and prayers….that truly means more than I can ever say. 💚 Sonya
