Move-In Support for Helen

Hi everyone,

We’re reaching out on behalf of our mom, Helen Evette, as our family navigates an unexpected and difficult financial gap in her care.

Helen is currently in memory care, where she is receiving the level of support she needs. As many families know, the cost of memory care is significantly higher and the financial reality has become more challenging than expected.

Back in October, we began the Medicaid process as soon as she was eligible. We followed all required steps, including spending down her assets and using the proceeds from the sale of her home to cover her care, along with a substantial deposit to her current facility.

Unfortunately, the Medicaid process has proven to be far more complex than anticipated. Due to recent changes in the way Medicaid is administered, even professionals in the field have shared that many families are experiencing delays and complications. We are now in the process of applying for the third time and expect to be approved.

In the meantime, Helen has exhausted her available funds, and we have fallen behind on rental payments as we wait for Medicaid to be finalized.

To help manage costs during this period, we are moving her to another memory care facility that is equally supportive, more affordable, and located just five minutes from Lyn, who is transitioning to full remote work by the end of the month. Lyn plans to spend more time with her and help ease the transition into a new and unfamiliar space. Because Helen is in a wheelchair, living at Lyn and Brent's two-bedroom condo (with the bedrooms and bathroom upstairs) is not a safe or feasible option.

Our goal is to ensure Helen continues to receive the care, dignity, and stability she deserves during this stage of her life.

We are asking for your support to help bridge this gap until Medicaid is approved. Any contribution, no matter the size, will go directly toward her care and is deeply appreciated.

If you’re unable to give, your thoughts, prayers, and sharing this message mean just as much to us.

Thank you for your love and support during this time.
