Moving for Treatment

Hi, Thank you for taking the time to read this and possibly, donate & or share. Please know that this is very hard for us to put all this out there, to let people in and know what we are going through and have been dealing with for 13 years. It's a lot to read, I know it's a lot of info. It's just time I get our story out there and hopes that someone hears my plea for help.

My husband, Eric (as many of you may know) is not doing well. Over the years, starting back in 2010, he was suffering from mysterious back pain, that no one understood. In 2011 having emergency gallbladder removal, followed by an emergency ERCP, ending up with chronic pancreatitis. Living in the hospital for over 30 days almost died 2x's and then had multiple suto-cysts throughout the abdomen, causing pain and keeping him bedridden for months after. An ATV accident in 2017 brought us a Dr who actually wanted to understand why his back had been a problem for so long. If you know him personally, you know he's a hard worker. All his life, never once to ask for help. Over the last 22 years, we have been together, We have owned and operated our businesses. We have always hustled! He has always been one to try to help. You knew, that if you had a car issue, Eric was the one to call. Oh, you needed yard work, Eric and Car got you. Oh, you need furniture? Call Eric and Car (the storage people), they always have something for sale. If you don't have enough money he was always willing to help out. You have kids, but struggling to buy Xmas gifts!? Eric is standing outside in 20-degree weather while it's snowing on Xmas Eve, with a tent in the driveway selling or giving toys away to people to make sure their kids wouldn't go without for Xmas. Needs something made or fixed he's the Macgyver of fixing almost anything!

Volunteer firefighter, trained EMT, Security, Chef, and Property manager, and Volunteered for the local non-profit to give back to the community He's a Dad, Husband, Brother, Uncle, and a Loyal Friend…

We have missed out on fun family outings. Canceled numerous trips, simple local and long-distance because the pain was too much. Our daughter ( now 21) has missed out on so much of her father and the amazing man he was because most of her life he's been “sick”. This all started when she was 7 years old. And we can't get any of that time back. We know that if he lives long enough to see our daughter have children of her own he will never get to be the grandfather he wants to be, he will be the sick old man that they see when they visit me. They will only hear stories of how great we were before he got sick. He barely goes out. There are times when people will see him out and he looks great. Then there are days where he's shaking so badly, walking with a cane and that sometimes looks like it's not helping because his tremors are so bad it throws him off balance. His mother is sick and instead of leaving her in a home, he's doing his best to take care of her himself. That's taking a major tod on him as well. ( We are not getting the help we need from her doctors either). We have so many goals for our lives together. He can't even enjoy cooking anymore. For a man who has always been The Man, to have to ask our daughter or me to help him take off his shoes because he can't bend over to remove them, to need me to help him out of bed, walk through our apartment and help sitting down because the pain is so bad, the tremors are so strong, the muscles are so tight that it hurts to breathe. It broke him, all of us.

Recently, his health has taken a major turn for the worse. The doctors around here are not in any way helpful! Most of the Dr. told him, “Oh you're going to have to just live on meds for the rest of your life, there's nothing I can do for you”. Why is it ok to tell a 43-year-old man that?! The worst part of this is the dr. give him hell over pain meds, because they don't want him to get addicted. He hated taking medications but he has no choice. He gets treated like a drug addict when he goes to the drs, he is not even on a high dosage in the first place. It's just sad that he is treated so poorly by Drs. He's not on disability because we can't get all the drs on the same page about all that is wrong with him for NY to see that he actually can't work anymore. For 13 years we have been fighting this.

We were supposed to move in 2022 to Florida, temporarily for him to get holistic treatment for cancer and other health issues.

We knew that the truck needed some extra love to get us to our destination but, we had a tight deadline and, unfortunately, it was working against us. We opted to do all the work ourselves to save money and to meet our deadline. Unfortunately, the company we got the engine from ripped us off. So we had to do more work than was planned. Once the engine was in, we ran into other issues.

He brought it to a dealership to have it worked on, and they ripped us off too! The dealership said it needed a computer, so he had it replaced with them, that was not the issue! We brought the truck back the next day, it sat for 3 months and still, the truck is still not 100% fixed. This whole situation has already put him in the ER!

We no longer have the money to move, We are way behind on most of our bills. My husband is trying to sell the stuff that he worked his butt off for to try to pay bills. Yes, I am working but it's only enough, unless I work nonstop and have someone else take care of him, oh insurance won't cover that. I can't stay home to take care of him, In NY spouses can't get paid to care for one or the other, because it's your obligation to care for them.

This list below is almost everything that is wrong with him. I have added a link to each issue, so you can get a better understanding of what each issue is and what he is going through.

I am not asking for someone to pay my bills. I am asking you to see me asking for help. To attempt to get my husband back. Or at least give him the relief that he needs to feel human again to be able to do his favorite things like cooking and know that he will not be limited to the sofa for the rest of the night or have to go to bed at 7 pm because the pain is so bad he can't handle it. There are nights the pain is so bad that he vomits, He can't eat, the migraine is so intense that nothing helps and he will just go to bed. We need to get him the holistic treatment he needs.

I am asking you to please donate. Even $1 will help us build our money up so we can get him to a dr that will actually help him. If you can't donate please share. I know that everything sucks and everyone is going through something but understand that we have tried this alone for a long time and I am just lost and I need help. I can't just watch my husband suffer in pain anymore. I am struggling, I am trying to get my certification in Holistic medicine so I can try to help, but I am just so overwhelmed. I can't do this alone anymore.
