“brain-on-fire”
On May 16, I went to Community Hospital of Anaconda, thought I was having strokes but instead I have a thymoma (it's a mass in my chest between sternum and heart, rare thing) and some other rare associated problems. Thank you to CHA for finding this! Been planning robotic surgery (means they might not have to open me up) in Salt Lake City at Hunstman Cancer Institute and meeting with my surgeon over video. Last weekend my surgeon was working with an auto-immunologist on me who found a "very very very rare" auto antibody related to "brain-on-fire" disease (autoimmune encephalitis). He said surgery will be put on hold and that this is treatable but I would need to be admitted to a specialized hospital for "urgent treatment" immediately. I've been here at University of Utah Hospital since Tuesday. Many tests. Still no certain diagnosis. Did another lumbar puncture yesterday. I have Medicare and MT Medicaid to cover a lot of this stuff just don't know how I would ever be able to come up with my remaining part of the bills. I really don't even understand why some of this isn't covered. Maybe they spend too much time on me.
Please help me if you are able. And wish me luck with a diagnosis soon and treatment and surgery. It will feel amazing to be healthy!
