Moving gone wrong
What a world we live in today, where someone simply looking for a place to live can't even do that without someone stealing from them. But I want to believe we also live in a place where people will reach out in support, and that's why this FreeFunder exists.
My daughter was all set to move into her apartment last week, but some people were out of town, last minute hiccups..you know, things happen. So again this weekend, she was going to move into it, but the landlord came up with some pretty wild excuses why he couldn't give her the key to her new place, which she had already put down the deposit and paid her first month's rent on.
Then she drove by Sunday morning and saw cars in the driveway, thinking maybe she could catch someone with a key, she knocked on the door and met the nicest lady and her family... the problem was they were the new tenants and who had moved in a month prior. They put her in touch with the landlord (Who's name I will not say to protect the innocent), and despite the same name, it was a different phone number and different voice than who she had been corresponding with.
She has been scammed and her money to be able to move is lost along with it, over 3000 dollars gone in the blink of an eye. She has to be out of her current apartment in less than a week, movers coming Thursday, and the bank (Chase) is unwilling to refund the Zelle transaction or give her any additional information about the bank it went to...all in all, no one seems to want to help.
Let's show her the world while full of pretty shitty people, is also full of amazing people who can do more, who will do more. If you can't help today, share it with as many people on as many platforms as you can. No one deserves to be homeless because of the despicable acts of others.
