For over a year, I asked supervisors multiple times if moving to a different state would be an issue.

I was always told no problem.

But my department was bought out, and policies changed — silently.

The only time I was allowed to submit the official relocation request was after signing the new lease (they require a permanent address first). That’s when we were finally told: my job won’t transfer.

Our Prius's hybrid battery died. It became clear it wouldn’t make the trip safely.

We found a good deal on a replacement vehicle — but it wiped out the funds we had reserved for setup and survival after arrival.

This was not a luxury purchase — it was the only path forward.
