Nanny's fighting back!
This is Donna Robinson. She is a wife, a mother of 3, a grandmother of 8, a great grandmother of 2, a family member, a friend, a caring person to everyone she meets and recently a victim of this horrible disease known as cancer. Donna was in the hospital recovering from surgery where a tumor, that had made it almost impossible for her to eat, drink or swallow was removed from her esophagus. While she anxious awaited to her results from the surgery a team of doctors were running test after test to try to give her some answers.
A few days after the surgery and many test, Donna was diagnosed with stage 3 metastatic esophageal cancer on August 21st, 2019. Along with this diagnosis, they confirmed that they were unable to remove all of the tumor and that it had spread to a few other areas. The doctor's told us that this would be a long hard fight, that gave us all the hope we needed! We were told that aggressive treatment needed to start immediately. As Donna and her family started preparing mentally and physically to get her through this treatment, the obstacles began. The day before the procedure to place a PICC line so she could start her treatment of chemotherapy and radiation the hospital told us her procedure was not approved by the hospital because she didn't have insurance.
A miracle happened and she was able to receive her PICC line. Donna will start her aggressive treatment this week and have one hell of a fight for at least the next 8 weeks. After that, more test and possibly surgery will begin to tells us if the treatment worked or if she has more fighting to do. While fighting this monster, her family will be at her side to help her in every way possible. We will carry her when she's to tired to walk, hold her up when she's to weak to stand and love her hard enough that she will never want to give up her fight.
While her job right now is to fight, she also has to worry about how to pay for this treatment. This will be a long hard battle and she needs to focus on that. She shouldn't have to worry about how to pay for this treatment. We are trying to work with programs and services to help with funding but we are not having much luck.
We are asking for everyone to look into your heart and give what you can. If you can't give anything we understand, your prayers will also be appreciated and very welcome. Sharing her story would also be very much appreciated. Help us give this amazing woman a fighting chance to kick cancers butt and watch the miracles God gave her grow up, graduate, get married and start family's.
