Need a little help back
Hi,my name is Danielle and we are raising for our family and to get back in a place of our own again. On June 3, 2023 it down poured in Billings,MT. Well at 2:00 am I woke up to our room flooding. The floor was wet to my ankles, everything in our room was wrecked. We tried to get a hold of landlord but it was late. I spent the next couple days crying and overwhelmed. The landlord didn't understand how serious it was. The egress window was full and my husband had to put a 5 gallon bucket down there and scoop water out,. I told him we needed to take off the trim to dry everything out.so we did. Well,he came by once to take pictures for insurance but we didn't see him again after that only to want to collect the rent on the 15th, I proceeded to tell him that he needed to prorate our rent due to the fact that we have not had our room since the 3rd, and we needed to be paid for all of the receipts and labor and the tear down of the drywall. He wasn't happy with that I also said that he needed to fix this issue it had been way too long for us to be sitting in this situation. On the 18th of June he had a crew come to fix the room and bathroom at that point they said they were going to stop bc the mold was so bad. My landlord told us it was a health concern for us to stay there and that we should go get a hotel for the week. He told me that he would reimburse us if we kept the receipts. He also told us that he would pay 3 months for storage but we had to get all of our stuff out of there so that they could gut the and give us our deposit back of $2, 000.The next day we went to meet up with him to give him the hard copy receipt for the hotel, he served my husband with eviction papers and saying that he needed to sign something. My husband said he wanted to speak with somebody about our rights and he got an attitude. He then informed us that he was no longer going to pay for the hotel, that he had change the locks, And that he was moving all of our belongings out of there. And if we were to come back there it would be breaking and entering. So we had to pay for everything out of pocket even though it wasn't our fault that his property had this disaster and was full of mold. We had to pay out of pocket for everything and now we are not getting any of our deposit back and we are no longer able to pay for our hotel. With the funds that are donated we are hoping to save enough to get back into a place of our we admitted that property for 2 years and my five-year-old doesn't really understand what's going on but he just wants to go home. We would really appreciate anything you can help out with.Thank you
