Neighbors in Need
Have you ever felt that pit in your stomach sink when you see one of your community neighbors sleeping on the bench in below zero temperatures? It's a completely human reaction, empathy or sympathy, but often times it is met with dismissal because, truth be told, no one really knows what they themselves can do about it. How do you help in a situation that is so vast and steeped in social injustice?
The answer is, you focus on what you CAN do.
NOTICING in and of itself is DOING SOMETHING. Talking about it is DOING MORE.
And today I came up with an idea to expand upon what I myself can do.
I want to start by creating hand outs that give those in need what they need to survive the night, and the information they could use to survive the winter. My vision is to start small, just a baggy with a brochure, a water bottle, a protein bar, an emergency blanket, and hand warmers.
And while I can provide these things with time by myself, I think I can do more by sharing this idea and bringing anyone in that wants to help.
Any penny is better than none.
Any share is better than none.
Any empathy is better than none.
Will you help me?
