Bleacher Fundraiser

Scott Chandler coached various teams across every division at Lynnhaven Baseball over the past 14 years, but was best known for his beloved “Dodgers”.

Scott was a man of humble beginnings and often credited youth sports as a fundamental part of his character and drive as an athlete and coach. He coached his daughter in both soccer and baseball; as well as his son Ethan, who is now a freshman at First Colonial, from T-Ball through Juniors at Lynnhaven Baseball.

Despite his many accolades as an all city baseball pitcher, American Legion ball player and member of VA Wesleyan baseball team, Scott found his true purpose in coaching. Scott modeled good sportsmanship on and off the field and instructed his players to behave the same. He had two sayings in the huddle with his players: "have fun" and "be respectful, win or lose".

Scott was the most requested coach during his time at Lynnhaven, and it wasn't just due to his successes. He treated every player the same, regardless of skill level, and he showed every team a high level of commitment and respect. It wasn't about the win for Scott, it was about teaching kids to love the game.

When Scott wasn't coaching, he could be found walking the fence along the 1st or 3rd baseline cheering on his son, his former players, and anyone who made a great play.

The Chandler family and Lynnhaven Baseball would like to carry on Scott's commitment to youth sports and love of baseball through the Scott Chandler Memorial Fund.

Please consider a monetary contribution or volunteering your time to Lynnhaven Baseball in Scott's honor.
