Nicole's Medical Journey
I am Linda Brazil,Nicole's mother-in-law. She is married to my son Dion.In 2004 they had a baby boy Tyson who was born at 24 weeks. He did not survive. In 2006 they gave birth to another baby boy at 24 weeks. That liitle boy weighed under two pounds. He spent many months in the hospital and today is a healthy 11 year old. Just shortly after this Nicole was diagnosed with Huntington's Diease.
Huntington disease (HD) is an inherited brain disorder. HD causes cells in parts of the brain to die: specifically the caudate, the putamen and, as the disease progresses, the cerebral cortex. As the brain cells die, a person with Huntington's becomes less able to control movements, recall events, make decisions and control emotions. It is a very difficult time for my son and his family especially Nicole. We decided to do this crowdfunding fundraiser to help Nicole with the extreme and expensive medical care that Nicole now needs. She now needs 24/7 care with health professionals and supervision in her daily care.
All monies collected will go to her care and to make sure that her journey with Huntington's Disease will be made as easy for her as possible.
I will provide all updates as the days go by.
Family and friends that know Nicole and her family know how difficult and stressful this situation is for her. We also know the toll this disease has been on Nicole and her family. To go from a engertic beautiful mother to where she is now is so sad.
I have enclosed a Webb site if you need to know the impact and what exactly this disease will do to someone.
