Norma J. Lewis
My precious and loving Mother, Norma Lewis, is 89 ½ years old and has multiple health issues, including vascular dementia. Mom had to retire at the age of 82 after short and long term disability ran its course. For 32 years she worked as an environmental associate at the local hospital and was and is loved by many of the staff and patients. Her smile and funny disposition helped many patients get through their day. She still wants to return to work.
Mom was convinced by her bank, at the age of 80, to take out a home equity loan for $25,000. She utilized the funds to improve the home through renovations and maintenance, as well as help pay for her property, city and local taxes throughout the past 9.5 years. The loan balance of $23,000 is due in full in a four months. Mom is on a fixed income of social security and a small retirement fund of $340 a month.
As her caregiver for the past 9 years, my Mom's mental state has declined significantly from the dementia. I have been helping her financially to pay down the loan balance as well as her other financial obligations, utilities, food, maintenance, health co-pays, etc. I am her nurse, maid, cook, taxi, support system, maintenance and landscape person, as well as a loving daughter. I was fired from my job in May for filing an age discrimination through the EEOC and am currently receiving unemployment. Not working has been bitter sweet as it does not allow me to help my Mom financially but allows me to be with her 24/7 to help with her declining health and mental state.
Please help my mother to pay off this loan so that she can enjoy the remainder of her life in peace. Thank you for your kindness and help.
