Hello Everyone, My name is Samantha and I am starting this in hope that I could get the help I need to get my IUD removed. I have had the mirena iud for about 12 years now, and yes, it's only been this one. While Mirena is good for up to 5 years, at the time of my appointment to remove it the Doctor said he couldn't locate my strings to retrieve the iud. He then suggested to have it surgically removed. At the time the cost was about 7k. As a parent paying out of pocket for expenses and insurance with kids is a challenge. As the years have passed I kind of just learned to live with it because I couldn't afford to pay for it. Now even with insurance I still have to pay out of pocket to get this procedure done. I have been blessed to have found a doctor who can do this procedure safely at a much lower cost. I would like to get this removed for the sake of my body's health, allowing it to be at its natural state, with high hopes no damage has been done. Update: As of 3/3/24 I started having pain throughout my body, which crippled me from being able to work, and performing simple chores. As months passed and waiting for doctors visits, It was brought to my attention that hormonal contraceptives could cause autoimmune diseases which I am currently seeing a rheumatologist for. I feel once I am able to get this removed I can begin going back to work and finally begin living my life again. Any help is appreciated even if it
