NSI Scholarship Fund
Dear friend of diversity in cross-cultural practice,
100% Humane International was established in 2000 as an initiative of the Caribbean Institute of Healing and Cultural Arts (CIHCA) now the International Institute of Healing and Cultural Arts IIHCA. 100% Humane International is a charity registered in the United States and Barbados dedicated to raising funds to provide low and no cost therapy and scholarships for trauma education.
We experience a plethora of traumatic stimuli at all levels of our society causing life-long mental, emotional and physical illness. However, in BIPOC communities there are scarce if any resources to address these problems. With the added stresses of the recent pandemic we have an even greater need for social and emotional education and healing, particularly in these underserved communities.
This Neuro-Somatic Integration (NSI) program is the first of its kind designed to integrate social-emotional learning (SEL) and trauma education with the movement and hands-on bodywork of Structural Integration. This training is specifically intended to place BIPOC practitioners in underserved communities. NSI addresses many of the concerns reflective of the times we are living in. This program explores and incorporates the neurobiology of trauma and its underlying effects on physical and emotional wellbeing.
Our current goal is to raise $600,000.00 to run our training program for 24 months. We intend to offer 16 scholarships to to train BIPOC therapists in Neuro-Somatic Integration: A Resilience Process©. The cost for each student is $15,750.00 plus additional travel and class expenses, for a total cost of approximately $37,500. per student.
This 625 hour program takes place over an 24-month period beginning in September 2023, ending in
January 2025. Each module is based on theory and recipe of Structural Integration (SI). In addition to learning and implementing the session by session series with movement interventions, this program includes: anatomy and physiology, SI theory, therapeutic relationship, experiential practicums, and business development.
Woven into this educational tapestry is an emphasis on the neurobiology of trauma and its impact on the well-being of an individual. Through numerous modalities, practitioners will cultivate a “listening touch” that addresses neural blockages held within the fascial tissues of the body. Specific attention will be given to engaging and working with the Poly-Vagal system through touch, breath, movement, and language.
The pilot program is open to 16 BIPOC students who have completed 230 hours of prerequisite courses. Students will be required to complete five tiers of outreach directed towards underserved communities, focusing on families and children.
1. 16 Class models selected from the community
2. 16 Supervised practice session models selected from the community
3. 18 hours of webinars available to the public
4. Each student in the program will commit to providing 100 hours of community service
5. Published documentation of the program
It is our goal that this novel curriculum brings the field of Neuro-Somatic Integration to a diverse population of practitioners and their clients with the end-goal facilitating outreach to those communities.
