Hello Friends and Family!

We are Omulu Capoeira Group, a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization. We provide Afro-Brasilian arts classes to youth in Oakland to promote a non-sedentary lifestyle through martial arts, dance, and drumming while instituting the importance of fitness, self-discipline, commitment, and focus.

Omulu Capoeira Group Oakland (Kintuari Ch.) is hosting this year's annual Capoeira Youth Workshops and Batizado e Troca de Cordas November 30, 2018 - December 2, 2018! It is It is at the end of the year that we celebrate and honor the youth for their year long commitment, discipline, hard work, focus and progress in the art of Capoeira by providing them with free T-shirts, two days of free workshops (11/30 & 12/1) and an eventful celebration on December 2, 2018.

The Batizado e Troca de Cordas is where new students will be initiated into the art by going in to the roda (the circle) with a Mestre (Master) or advanced level instructor to display their own unique approach to movements and strategies in Capoeira. Also, students who have met the required milestones in their training will be promoted to the next belt level! A very exciting moment for them, their families, and all of us at Omulu Capoeira!

We are extending a humble invitation to you, the community, to help in supporting the youth through your donation. This event is 100% community sponsored and we need your donation to cover the minimal expense of providing this event for them. Please note that the Oakland Youth Capoeira Program is a community focused outreach program. The coach, Anthony Fidel (aka Instrutor Busca Hé) donates 100% of his time, as well as his personal funds, to working with the youth without any monetary compensation. With your donations the T-shirts for the youth, participation in the workshops, and their participation in the Batizado e Troca de Cordas event, will be 100% free for them and for all other youth of Omulu Capoeira Group that also train in other chapters

We have a very special guest who will be in attendance with us, Mestre Preguiça (Mestre is Portuguese for Master). It is always an honor to have him with us! He is our Mestre, founder of Omulu Capoeira, and he is a graduated student of Mestre Bimba. With a perspective, there are not many students of the famous Mestre Bimba alive today and Mestre Preguiça is an eternally young and living legend himself! He has over 55 years experience in the art of Capoeira and other Afro-Brasilian art forms! He is very excited and looking forward to seeing the youth and their current progress!
