on road back to indepence

My name is Christina Cazalas, and I’m a 53‑year‑old survivor of domestic violence living on a fixed income.I have no family left to help me other than my chidren and grandkids. Over more than twenty years of abuse, I developed severe anxiety, panic disorder, PTSD, and other mental health challenges. These are invisible, but they affect almost everything I do.

Last year, a flood took my vehicle — and with it, what little independence and control I had. FEMA couldn’t help me, and I’ve spent over a year struggling to find a way forward. Because of my disabilities and medical issues, I rely on regular appointments and care, but without my own vehicle, I often end up having to cancel or reschedule.

Public transportation, rideshares, and relying on other people are not real options for me. My anxiety and PTSD make it extremely hard to be in unfamiliar cars, around strangers, or in crowded spaces. I need to be able to be in control of when I go, where I go, and who I am with. Having my own vehicle is not just about convenience for me; it is directly tied to my mental health, my safety, and my ability to function.

I’m humbly asking for help to raise enough money to purchase a dependable used vehicle. I don’t need anything fancy — just something safe and reliable that I can drive myself. My goal is to raise about $3,000 to help me buy a simple used car so I can regain some independence, keep my appointments, and move through the world without constant fear.

I have survived a lot, and I am still trying every day. If you’re able to donate or even share my story, I would be truly grateful. Every bit of support helps me take back a little more control over my life and brings me closer to peace of mind.

Thank you from the bottom of my heart for listening and for caring.

With love and gratitude,

Christina Cazalas
