Open Ears, Open Arms
Let's team up as a Chicago music community to give to a cause that helps our fellow Chicagoans! All of the proceeds from our event will be donated to The National Immigrant Justice Center! I'm setting the goal to $500, and hoping we'll exceed that!
The fundraising concert will feature music from b.lake, Wright Gatewood, and Hannah Sandoz, hosted at the Bridgeport Music Collective!
The event is taking place at :

The National Immigrant Justice Center (NIJC) provides low-cost and free immigration legal services to low-income immigrants in the jurisdiction of the Chicago Immigration Court (including residents of Illinois, Indiana, and Wisconsin). NIJC represents individuals seeking immigration relief, including asylum, Special Immigrant Juvenile Status, deportation/removal defense, waivers, U visas, T visas, protection under the Violence Against Women Act, Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals, family petitions, adjustment of status, consular processing, TPS and naturalization. In addition, NIJC conducts community outreach and education to provide immigration legal information to immigrant communities and service providers.
This will be an intimate format music performance with live instruments. The artists involved care deeply about the mistreatment of fellow Chicagoans and would love to use our platform to give to our community.
Our goal - raise as much as we can! What the donations will go to:
Here's what your donation does:
- $5,000 helps a child who has been abused, neglected or abandoned secure safety and legal status
- $1,000 assists a person with filing an appeal at the Chicago Immigration Court HelpDesk
- $500 educates community members through a Know Your Rights presentation
- $100 provides expert legal help for a family fighting to stay together
- $50 provides a legal consultation by phone
More about the fundraiser: This page is just being used so we can tally our donations before sending them to the organization. We're accepting donations now up until the end of the night November 8th. After that, it'll take 5 business days for me to get the funds from freefunder. After that I will be submitting it to the following website and posting our results!
