Our Love Story (and Why We Need Your Help!)

Hi, we’re Emma and Khaled!

Our story started in January 2023 in the most modern of ways: online. I (Emma) was on Interpals trying to learn Albanian, and Khaled sent me the unforgettable first message: “Hello, I like your tats.” Smooth, right? Somehow, that one line turned into hours of conversation about everything from National Geographic documentaries to our shared sense of humor.

Before long, we were texting, video chatting, and laughing together every single day. Somewhere in between the silly memes and the deep talks, we realized we had found something rare: real love.

In December 2023, during my first trip to Tunisia, we got married. It was the best decision of our lives—but it also meant beginning the long, complicated, and expensive immigration process so we could finally live together as husband and wife. We filed for the CR1 spousal visa and waited… and waited… and waited. After a year (and a second trip to Tunisia full of new memories), his petition was finally approved!

Now we’re one big step closer to building our life together—but the financial side of immigration is overwhelming. Between visa fees, travel, and legal costs, it’s been a heavy burden on two people who just want to be together.

We’re asking for help from friends, family, and anyone who believes in love stories that start with a simple DM and grow into a marriage full of laughter, resilience, and hope. Every contribution, no matter how small, helps bring us closer to closing the distance and finally starting our married life under the same roof.
