Help Us Get Out of This House and Start Over

I genuinely never thought I would be making a funding campaign because we need help getting out of a house we spent almost three years paying for, but here we are.

In January 2024, Joshua and I entered into an owner-financed agreement with Heather Roop (Gore) (GoddessHeather) and David Gore (Master David). We were completely up front about how little knowledge we had on buying a house and that we would need help along the way understanding what needed to be done. We signed the paperwork, paid our deposits, made our monthly payments, paid for repairs, and treated this like our home because, as far as we knew, we bought a house.

Since then, it has been one problem after another.

The deed paperwork wasn't properly recorded despite multiple statements that the papers were being filed on this date or that date. We relied on Heather and David to do the legal stuff since this was completely outside of a standard realty situation and we were naive to the process. There was no bank. There was no realtor. There was no home loan. There was no proof the house was ours except the signed mortgage agreement, promissory note, and payment agreement.

We've dealt with repeated raw sewage backups in ONLY the master shower, a failed and improperly installed AC system that cost us $3800 out of pocket, and utilities being shut off over balances that weren't ours with no way to transfer the accounts due to missing paperwork. At one point, things got so tight that I took a loan out of my 401(k) just to catch up the mortgage and keep our agreement intact.

And through all of it, we kept paying.

Then in March of this year, we discovered that the 2023 and 2024 property taxes hadn't been paid and a tax deed foreclosure application had been filed despite having been told the tax issues were being handled on 3 separate occasions starting in March 2025.

In preparing documentation for the lawsuit we're filing, we also discovered that Heather and David had signed a quitclaim deed transferring the property into a land trust despite our existing agreement. As of July 20, 2026, the house was sold for $10 without us knowing.

That was it for us.

We've put approximately $65,000 into this property and we're done pouring money into trying to save it. There are simply too many problems with the house, the paperwork, and everything surrounding it.

We are now suing Heather and David for the $65,000 and trying to start over somewhere else. However, we don't know what's going to happen in the interim. We don't know if the LLC who purchased the house will show up with an eviction notice. We don't know if whoever purchases the property at auction will allow us time to find a new home for us, the dogs, the cats, and all our stuff. Trying to find somewhere to go with no notice is hard when you're single and next to impossible when you're married with 5 animals and a house full of stuff.

We're asking for help with legal fees, the upfront costs of getting into another home, and moving expenses. We're not looking for an upgrade or some dream house. At this point, we'd just really like a home where we know the deed is actually ours, the property taxes are paid, and raw sewage doesn't randomly come up through our shower.

We just want to get out, hold the people responsible accountable through the legal system, and have the chance to start over somewhere we can actually call home.
