Out Of Work But Trying
Hi, my name is David, and I’m humbly reaching out for help during one of the hardest times in my life.
Right now, I’m buried under about $50,000 in debt — between state tax debt, unpaid bills, collections, and essential living expenses. I’ve been out of work and doing everything I can just to keep things from falling apart. Recently, I received a tax warrant from the New York State Department of Taxation. They’ve given me 60 days to file an old return or face wage garnishment and asset seizure — but the truth is, I don’t have assets to seize. I’ve already lost so much.
Here’s just some of what I’m dealing with:
- I have no car
- My bills are stacked up, and several have gone to collections
- My house is in serious need of repairs, and I have no money or tools to fix it
- I’ve had to borrow nearly $300 from family just to cover the cost of a drug test, physical, and fingerprinting for a job I’m set to start soon
- I’m trying to support my fiancé, who’s been doing everything they can to keep us going
Even though there hasn’t been an official payment plan, I’ve been sending in what I can on my tax debt — but it’s not enough. Every day is a mental and emotional struggle, and honestly, my mental state is completely shot from the stress.
The good news? I’m finally on track to start working again — I’ve been hired as a school bus driver. While it won’t bring in thousands per paycheck, it’s a steady job and a fresh start. My hope is that, with a little help, I can get through this critical time, pay off these debts, and finally be able to breathe again.
My goal is to raise enough to cover this mountain of debt and catch up on everything — just enough to stop drowning and start building again. I’ll keep this fundraiser open until I reach a point where I can stand on my own and start paying it forward.
If you can give anything — even just a few dollars — you’ll be helping me take a step closer to stability. Thank you for reading, and thank you for caring.
With all my heart,
David
PS The photo is the picture of my truck in the business I used to run. It broke down and was unfixable. I'm still paying for that as well and it's been four years.
