Hello, we are Daniel and Kimberly Huber from Huron, SD. We are seeking donations to be able to patent a pet-related product that we have invented.

We had hired some patent attorneys located in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, several months ago to perform a patent search for our invention idea. The attorneys were paid to perform a patent search and found nothing close, or similar to the invention we would like to patent, so the invention is patentable and our next step following patenting is to market our product.

We began working on the details of the invention approximately 3 years ago. We purchased a large scale Creality 3D printer to print the body of the invention, as well as a multitude of parts that our invention required in order to assemble it. We have spent thousands of dollars on parts that our 3D printer could not print, such as main boards, bread boards, resisters, diodes, wires, Wi-Fi hardware, USB hardware, battery backup hardware, alarms, dip switches, nuts, screws, bolts, stainless steel dishes, LEDs, solid state relays, plus the filament and other parts I can't think of offhand. We went through a lot of trial and error and used coding to program our invention. There is also an app that we programmed that is designed to work with our invention as well.

I cannot discuss, on this fundraiser, any specific information on what the invention does or how it works exactly. If I disclosed the information on this fundraiser, an individual or a company may actually steal our invention idea and make it their own, and we would not be happy about that, considering the endless number of hours and research we have invested into our work. If I were to disclose the information, every person who reads this would be required to sign a non-disclosure agreement and we would not know who, or how many people, have read the information. Three years of difficult time-consuming work, working 7 days per week, is a lot of time and energy spent to make this invention become a reality.

We can tell you, however, that our invention is a pet-related item that is not sold in stores anywhere in the United States as it has not been marketed yet. We will not market this invention without first acquiring a patent for it. If we didn't patent our invention, every Chinese Company would steal our idea and claim that they invented it themselves. That's why a patent is important; it protects your invention.

I can tell you that our invention is an automatic pet feeder, and it is unique and unlike any feeder sold on the market today. Any feeder you see online, on places like Amazon, eBay, Chewy, Petco, PetsMart, and others, including small mom and pop pet stores, all carry traditional automatic pet feeders which all do the exact same thing. You purchase the feeder, you read the instructions, and you program the feeder according to the time that you want your cat to eat. Those feeders all do one thing, they continue to dispense food according to the times that you set, and the meals dispense continuously and become a big pile of food, and nothing more.

As of today, we have printed 3 pet feeders and a 4th, currently printing. Just the body of the feeder itself takes nearly four days to complete and our 3D printer runs non-stop, all day and night. With each feeder that is printed, there is a lot of wiring to be connected, a lot of testing to be performed, a lot of parts that need to be decided where to be placed. It is hard work.

Our senior cat, Yoyo, has been testing our first successful feeder for about a year with no problems. The others we printed have all been upgraded with different options, such as a battery backup module so that if your power gets shut off or you have a power glitch, the feeder continues to run, and you don't have to be bothered by manually inputting the original mealtime settings.
