On the night of October 10th, 2019 at 7 p.m. at the Albertsons on Ironwood after picking up some groceries I came out to my car to find a bag of money under my truck that was not mine. Now, I knew that everyone and their brother is going to want to claim it is theirs .... However! I was more than willing to get it back to it original owner IF they could describe to me these things!

1. What kind of packaging it is in?

2. How much money is in said package?

3. What are the bills denominations?

I have worked in the industry for a long time and can tell you that these are most likely someones very hard earned tips or a child/teens allowance that has been saved. I had sent messages out to several groups on Facebook to try to find the owner. When I sent it to North Idaho News, it generate an amazing response from our community. I just wanted to do what was right, so I turned it I to the Coeur D' Alene police department trusting they would also do what is right and assist in finding the owner.

When I contacted them today, November 13th, to get an update I was informed that the money had been transfered from their evidence to a general fund for the city.

Even though the monetary value of the cash was small, only $25, if it had been returned to me I would have used it to pay off lunch debts at a local elementary school. Sadly, the city decided it was to be theirs instead. However, I am still going to donate money to local schools so that students can eat. Elementary, middle and high school student should not have to worry about if they have enough money to eat. They should not have to worry if their friends can hear their stomachs or when the next time they will eat is.

I am hoping to raise $1000 to help with this in local Coeur d Alene schools and hopefully Post Falls and Rathdrum schools as well.
