Summary: Raising funds to support my education to become a certified piano tuner and technician to serve Shamrock and surrounding small towns. Having a local tuner / technician saves about $100 on each tuning compared to out of town tuners who, understandably, charge for the drive time.

It is my desire to serve our small communities of Shamrock, Wheeler, Wellington, and Sayre (and any in between!) by becoming a certified piano tuner and technician. As a piano teacher and piano player, I have a deep love for the beauty of piano music, especially when shared with those we love; whether that be our families, friends, church communities, or neighborhoods. I have the joy of playing for St. Patrick's Catholic Church every week and of teaching many young students in our community this beautiful form of art and skill.

It is difficult, however, to enjoy and share this beauty through acoustic pianos due to their need to be tuned or serviced for repairs. While it is recommended that pianos are tuned every 6 months to a year, this becomes expensive when a tuner / technician has to come from Amarillo or other larger cities which require substantial driving. For example, a standard tuning, which typically costs between $50-$100 (assuming it's well kept and in good shape), jumps to $175-$225 when the tuner comes from out of town.

In an effort to make this service more accessible to our communities, I will be pursuing certification through an online education and certification program. Requiring a year to complete the program, I will then be able to tune and fix small repairs on acoustic pianos. Such a course, however, requires funding and this is where I am asking the community for support and assistance. The total cost of the course, tools, and books is $2,100.
