Hello Everyone,

As you may (or may not) know, in November 2024, I ended up getting a 2022 Honda Civic because, for over a year and a half prior, I had four different vehicles that all died on me for one reason or another. I couldn’t afford to buy another vehicle that would just clunk out on me, because I am a long-term substitute teacher for a local school district, and also, I volunteer at my church: I drive the church van to pick up those without a vehicle, assist with attendance, and handle media for our online services. (Therefore, getting to work and to church is of the utmost importance).  

How I got behind...

Right now, my vehicle is in repossession status. I do need $3,500 to cancel the repossession and bring my account into good standing. We have already raised $500, but I need help with the rest. A good friend suggested that if 300 people were willing to donate $10.00, it would help me make it. I was reluctant to do this, and, as embarrassing as this is, there’s not much choice but to ask for help. I understand completely if you don’t want to or can’t; with the way the economy is nowadays, life is happening. I am in a bind I can't get out of on my own.  

How I got behind...

In the month of May, I submitted over 40 job applications, including to the YMCA, The Boys & Girls Club, and a couple of warehouse positions, and even attended a couple of interviews – all of which (to my surprise) produced no employment. (I am not used to not having summer employment somewhere) But because of this, my car payments suffered, and this is how I got behind. 

Also, during the week of Thanksgiving, I switched banks, which caused payroll to issue a paper check. When the paper check didn’t arrive that first week, my employer was notified, and they said nothing could be done until after the 10th day. I had to wait a month for my check to arrive because of their protocol.   

Also, the first week of December, the Sunday after that snowstorm, my husband accidentally slid into a snowbank to avoid being hit by a semi truck; this damaged my radiator beyond repair and breaking the part that holds it in place. These items had to be replaced, which cost a pretty penny.  Although everything added up and was out of my control, this is where I am now and why I need your help.
