Please help Mike and Tess
I'll start off by saying that my brother is the first person to help someone and the last person to ask for it. He did not ask for this, but it's needed. This week my brother Michael's life was flipped upside down, literally. He was traveling on Hwy 85 when an irresponsible driver who *rented* a semi truck, was either making a left turn or a u-turn on the highway and in doing so, cut across two lanes of traffic in front of my brother. This caused my brother to hit him and roll his Suburban several times. He landed upside down, over a ditch with running water and none of the airbags deployed. We have no idea how he survived (see the image of his vehicle in comments) but he had a guardian angel that day, presumably our late Uncle Bob. He walked away with four broken vertebrae in his neck and back and will not be able to drive or work for at least three months. While my brother has a job he loves and his wife is also employed, they are scraping pennies like everyone else in this economy. He has no employer benefits such as sick time or medical leave/insurance, no disability pay, he lost his vehicle and who knows how many tools grew legs and walked away. His car insurance is only covering $5,000 in medical bills and we assume they'll be much more than that between the ambulance, emergency room, hospital admission, CT scans, MRI's, neurosurgeon and ongoing therapy. Aside from that, we are meeting with an attorney this week and have no idea what that will cost. With him not working, it will be impossible for his wife Tess to keep them afloat on her own. My mom and I will help them where we can, but if you have a few extra bucks by forgoing Starbucks today or if Michael, Tess or even myself have ever helped you out, please consider them. Thank you!
