Please help my bonus dad!
Hi, my name is Madison. On February 11th my bonus dad (Spencer) got into a very severe motorcycle accident. He's from Texas as the rest of his family, but he's been in florida for the past year for work. On his way home from watching super bowl Sunday there was a collision with him and another driver, neither of them were drunk and I would like to clarify that. Blood tests were done on both him and the lady, and both came back negative. Because Spenc did not have a helmet on his injuries were obviously very very severe :/. I won't go in too much detail as to respect the littlest ounce of privacy he has left, but he broke every bone in his body including his poor face, he had to be put on a ventilator (he's off it now thank God). He's been in a coma for the past three months now and he's lost his job, his insurance, his phone disconnected, he lost his truck, he's in a completely different state all alone with the exception of his mother who refuses to give us any updates. My ma and Spenc are common law married in the state of Texas, however florida does not recognize that. Meaning power of attorney goes to his 75 year old mother who has basically disowned us for him. My mom is disabled, she crushed her foot to the point we call it her “million dollar foot” because of all the surgeries she's had on it, something Spencer made up lol. She also had a hip replacement at her ripe age of only 40. She can't stand for more than 2 hours without being in miserable pain (although she hides it very well), and the income she does bring in is simply not cutting it. I'm coming on here as a last resort because we are really struggling at the moment. My biological dad died in 2013, so Spencer genuinely is our second dad and he's more than anyone could ever ever hope and dream for. He is kind and empathetic and funny and so so resilient. The picture of him I decided on is a candid my mom took of him trying to nurse a deer back to health after being caught in a fence. There being no updates on spenc, I'd really like to sneak a flight out to see how he's doing as he's been my dad for the past 10 years. I would also really love to raise as much as possible, even if it's just $100 to go to his medical bills and to get him back on his feet as he's lost pretty much everything :/. You have no idea how embarrassing it is to ask for money, and I wouldn't if I knew what else to do. I'm only 21 years old, I live on my own and am barely making it as it is. I do have a job, but it's definitely not enough to help spencer out in the way I would hope to. I love him and i just want him to come home. The transfer fee out of pocket runs about 20k to get him from florida back to texas, once he's back in texas power of attorney will be transferred back to my mom and that'll be more than enough to me. At least I'll be able to see him. Even if you cannot donate (trust me I'd be the one to understand if I'm asking for donations), it would mean the absolute WORLD to me if you could at least share this around, whatever way you can help I would appreciate it. Also if you have any meaningful advice I am allllll ears, it feels like we're stuck in limbo and it's cruel.
