PRAYING 4 A BRIGHTER DAY
My name is Abbey. I have lived in Salt Lake City my whole life. Growing up I was raised by my grandma. Today, I'm a single mother of 2 beautiful boys. Kaiden and Elias. They're my whole world. The events that have occurred over the last year have completely turned my life upside down. My boys and I moved in with my father for a few years, until he decided he wanted a divorce from his wife, without any notice my dad moved out to be with someone new he had met, leaving me and my boys with my step mom. I had to find somewhere to go with only a little amount of time to do so, I had so little time that I ended up homeless. My oldest son went to live with his grandma, and my youngest and I went to stay with his dad at his moms house. My youngest sons father was always very abusive, and I felt so out of place there. About 5 months ago, while visiting my grandma, she told me she had something in her mouth she wasn't sure what it was but it was causing her pain and made it hard to eat. She waited a month before she was able to get into her doctor, her doctor gave her some medicine and wanted her to wait and go have it tested by a cancer center. she waited another two weeks, by that time, she had a very hard time with the pain, she was unable to eat anything. They did an xray and then told us surgery wasn't even an option, because the cancer had spread. She stayed at a hospice care facility for a couple weeks so they could help her regain strength by feeding her with a feeding tube, she returned home a couple weeks later, and my mother and I were there with her to take care of her. The cancer took everything she had left in her, seeing her suffer killed me. she was my best friend. I love her so much, recently she passed away. I learned that my uncle who she had given her power of attorney to, was lying to her about her rent being paid for the last couple of months she was with us. We received a notice saying we had 3 days to pay $2400 dollars or vacate the property. after the 3 days, My mother and I became homeless. The bishop helped pay for a hotel room for a few days. Meanwhile my kids were with their grandparents. I struggled every day, going to temporary agencies to work to pay for our room for one more day. we had to switch hotels, with everything we have left of my grandma and all my clothes. I ended up giving up my clothes, because I couldn't carry it all with me. and my grandma's stuff meant more to me. We ended up not being able to pay for the motel room, and got kicked out and are now staying in an RV. with no heat or running water. I have only slippers for shoes and no clothes. I feel defeated, more than anything I just want my kids and a safe place for them so we can be together. I've contacted every resource I could come acrossed. I contacted my local church and was told to go to the homeless shelter. They said they couldn't help me. Now, I'm starting to lose my hope. I don't know of what else to do. I have no family or friends, I have nowhere to turn. I don't like asking for money, I just want to be able to have a home and have my kids. & be able to get a job, living the way I have been has made it so difficult.Nobody wants to hire me because I don't have clean clothes, I'm so embarrassed and wish I was able to make things better on my own. If anyone would be willing to help, it doesn't have to be much, anything would be so so appreciated. I'm praying that one day soon, things will be okay again. 😔 Thank you so much for taking the time to read this. 💕
