Preserving Indiana Township
My name is Emily Gouwens. I am resident of Indiana Township along with my husband, Matthew and our 3 children. While we are not native Pittsburghers, we have lived here for 20 years and absolutely fell in love with Indiana Township and the Fox Chapel Area. We appreciate the small community feel, the lush green space and mature trees, and sense of community we feel with our neighbors.
We started this funding site as a result of a current legal appeal that we have with Indiana Township. We, along with several neighbors are trying to challenge the approval of a development of 91 townhomes between Fox Chapel Road and Doreseyville Road. These townhomes are not in harmony with the existing community and the development will require the clear cutting of nearly 5,000 mature, native trees and the re-grading of nearly 20 acres - completely changing the landscape.
This development is the tip of the spear and will pave the way for further, future development of mass, non-traditional housing. We fear the impacts to the environment, traffic and our schools with mass development.
If you feel passionately about preserving the Indiana Township/Fox Chapel neighborhoods, we ask for your support in helping to fund the legal fight of this development. We appreciate any support the community can provide in this common cause that we all have a vested interest in.
