QTBIPOC Rocky Horror

Creatures of the Night is an all Queer all POC Drag, Burlesque & Sideshow shadow cast of the Rocky Horror Picture Show at the Historic Coney Island Sideshow.

A reimagining of a cult classic like never seen before!

The past two years have sold out so we have 2 nights of shows this year! October 30th + 31st

I have been going to shadow casts of The Rocky Horror Picture Show since I was 14 years old. I quickly noticed a pattern in the types of bodies I was seeing on various casts, and even within the movie itself. Rocky Horror is about the alienating experience of being a marginalized person, and yet I did not see this represented on stage. So I decided to create my own opportunities for representation. This show is a love letter to people of color, trans people, immigrants, disabled people, sex workers, fat people and those who’s lived experiences reflect the themes in Rocky Horror. We have created a Rocky Horror Experience like no other! We lip sync the entire movie while performing in drag, adding burlesque elements and performing dangerous sideshow feats!

In order to stream the movie we need to pay for the streaming rights. They cost 50% of total ticket sales, and our venue fees to pay the incredible staff is 40% of ticket sales. This leaves 10% of sales to pay our ten person cast, which does not even make a dent.

I have always funded this event on my own, and as a full time performer this has been a daunting and stressful task. This year I am seeking support!

Funds will go to paying our 10 person cast over two nights and booking ASL interpreters.

This support will allow me to pay all of our performers a professional rate. It is important to me to compensate queer and trans people of color appropriately, especially since we often face wage disparities in the entertainment industry. Support will allow us to present our production over two nights and share this unforgettable experience with double the audience!

We will be able to continue to prioritize accessibility by being able to book 2 ASL interpreters for each night. One interpreter will be signing the movie and the other will be interpreting the audience callouts. Giving deaf folks access to the full shadow cast experience, many for the first time ever. Call outs are a huge part of the Rocky Horror culture and we want to make this experience accessible for as many people as possible.

Thank you so much for supporting our production! It is so important now more than ever for Queer and Trans POC to have their voices and perspectives be centered in artistic spaces and to share the message of Rocky Horror and what the shadow cast culture represents. DON"T DREAM IT, BE IT! XOXO
