Rachel's Cancer Treatment
Rachel Wimberley has cancer. If you are here - then you've probably crossed paths with the wonderful Rachel at some point in your life. Just take a brief pause here to dig deep into your little memory box to think about when and how you met her.
(INSERT PAUSE)
You probably recalled a pretty special experience! Personally, I was privileged that Rachel invited me to co-lead the Morning Jo's alongside her after a few months of routinely running with her group. I have been able to learn SO much from her regarding social advocacy, inclusivity, health, etc. She is a cultivator of community. Constantly, we are blessed to have her as a mentor, co-leader, and most importantly, a friend.
She puts her heart and soul into others whether that be her family, friends, the running community, or folks impacted through her philanthropic and non-profit endeavors. Specifically, Rachel and her partner, Andrew, have two sweet kiddos: Ezra (4) and Ruby (1). We've witnessed her first-hand deeply value her relationships with her friends across the world from Thailand to the West and East Coasts to locally within the City of Austin. We cannot forget all of the times when she jumped into action to lead change for social causes. For example, Rachel always hops in to support other female run group leads that need any sort of advice, especially around safety, and then drove out a community run to advocate for women's rights!
I am hoping for us to collectively return the favor to a very special person that always puts others first because now more than ever, Rachel deserves to be put first during these tougher times. We are incredibly appreciative of the several that have already donated to Rachel directly and/or reached out on ways to help. You can stay up to date on future events that support Rachel through @themorningjos as that is the account that I will be publicizing local events in July. The most impactful way to support is through financial donations here as medical bills are... expensive. If you have any further questions - reach out to me (Cameron Nguyen) or Carly Bormann.
