Rachel's Miracle

Hi, my name is Melissa and I started this fee-free fundraiser to help Heidi Postma and her beautiful daughter, Rachel. Below is her story.

“Hi, my name is Heidi Postma. I am the mother of Rachel Postma. My daughter was diagnosed with a cardiomyopathy when she was 6 weeks old. Her father and I were told she would need a heart transplant.

Being a nurse, I was able to handle all of Rachel's care as an infant, toddler, and grade schooler. She thrived and never wanted to be treated different from anyone else. She was on many medications and it was a challenge to get enough calories to grow and thrive. In 2010, when Rachel was 12, she did need a heart transplant and it went very well. The University of Michigan has taken care of her until now.

Rachel is in need of a heart and kidney transplant at this time. U of M referred us to Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN, knowing that they could not handle the complex situation as well as Mayo. Rachel has been evaluated by Mayo and they have given us great hope!

We will have to relocate to Rochester full time for up to a year. She will need care to get strong enough to be listed for transplant. She needs to gain weight. She will be having multiple appointments daily.

I have seen God's work in Rachel's life. I have had many friends and family praying for direction. The week after that God showed us clearly where we needed to go.

Rachel has great health insurance. We are so thankful for that. I am not sure if I will be able to work when I relocate. Rachel is needing assistance at this time but I am hoping she will be gaining more strength

If you are willing to help with making this miracle come to fruition, it would be so appreciated. I need to find a rental furnished place to live along with many other needs that arise.

Rachel is quite private so I will not be sharing this on Facebook at this time. If you would like to forward it to anyone privately that is appreciated.

We serve a mighty God!

Please do not feel obligated to donate. I know the economy is tough right now. I would so appreciate prayer support for this journey.”
