Dear Friends,

As some of you may know, my brother was in horrible motorcycle accident on his way to work on June 16th that may have changed his life forever. Unfortunately, a car pulled in front of him with no warning. The impact was violent and he was ejected very far from his motorcycle.

He sustained the following injuries: Fractured neck in three places, fractured scapula, fractured sacrum, fractured pelvis in three places, fractured both arms, both legs (right leg is shattered), multiple toes and fingers. He also had multiple internal injuries including damage to a major artery. Thankfully he was wearing a helmet and sustained no head injuries or injuries to his face. He has road rash all the way down the front of his body. As you can see, it is a true miracle that he is alive and not paralyzed. However, he is in excruciating physical pain and is suffering emotionally. He has received multiple surgeries over the last week which have totaled up to over 20 hrs in the operating room. The road to recovery will be very long and complicated and we do not yet know what his quality of life will be. The doctors have given us lots of hope and say they expect him to walk away from all of this someday, but it will be a while before he gets to that point.

His wife has been in the hospital with him day and night while our mom helps out at home with their seven children.

This has been truly devastating for this sweet family in every way imaginable. They need our support now more than ever! Every now and then when Carlos wakes up from his meds, he expresses how worried he is about his kids and how the rent will get paid. Not only that, but Carlos unfortunately had just started a new job and doesn't have medical insurance. This is not the sort of thing we want them to have to worry about as they should only be focused on healing and recovery. We do not yet know what sort of help he will receive for medical expenses, but they will be needing help very soon with bills and expenses typically covered by Carlos' income. Any amount of monetary donations WILL HELP! My goal ultimately is for their children to not feel any sort of financial impact and for them to continue to have all that they need.
