Hi my name is Aubrey, I am 34 years old and have been diagnosed with IgA Nephropathy (basically Berger's disease). I have lived with CKD for almost 10years before I finally had to go on Dialysis, and now I am in need of a kidney transplant. Being on Dialysis is like a part time job. You spend at least 4hrs a day, 3x a week hooked up to a machine either by a catheter in the chest, an AV Fistula or a graft in either the arm, leg or stomach. There are side effects to having dialysis. One is you are limited to what you can eat because of phosphorus in foods. Eating too much can cause harm to the body, and you have to keep up with taking binders to reduce the amount. You also have to be careful of your fluid intake to where its 32oz a day. The more fluid you drink the harder it is to get rid of it. Then comes being exhausted faster then normal. After dialysis or work I usually have to lay down and I sleep from 2-8hrs. I haven't been able to be as active as I was before. I'm unable to walk more the a mile to two miles. I have recently gotten Restless Leg Syndrome, my insomnia has gotten worse when trying to sleep at night so I compensate after dialysis or work. I have a weight limit of 10lbs so I can't do much when I wish to clean up around the house. Trying to do dishes or cook a meal takes over 2hrs at a time. When 1st starting dialysis, I was unable to shower till I had my AV Fistula in and working correctly before they could take the chest catheter out(can't get it wet so a lot of sponge bathing and BO in the armpits). The lack of energy is the worst for it made me feel very lazy when asked to go somewhere and just had to say no. The best treatment for this is to have a transplant done.

So I created this to help pay for any unexpected medical, travel and logging that my living donor, their caretaker and my own caretaker needs before, during and after the hospital stay for up to 3-6weeks recovery time. My insurance will be coving the donor medical wise but if there are any issues for anything it isn't able to, like the anti rejection medications for the kidney, this will help cover it. I know it's a long shot but any help is appreciated. The longer I'm on dialysis I will develop more issues towards the heart, or other organs, which I want to avoid. The transplant will give me at least 7-15yrs before needing another one. So I am also looking for a living donor who is willing, for if you do change your mind you are allowed to back out of it.
