❤️ “Rebuilding My Life From Loss, In Honor of Buckley”

(Emotional, faith-based, and ready for GoFundMe, Facebook, or anywhere you want to share it.)

My name is Mark, and this is one of the hardest things I’ve ever had to write.

Four years ago, my heart was shattered when I lost my best friend — my dog Buckley. He was the only survivor of a litter of seven, and I brought him home at just four weeks old. From that moment on, it was him and me against everything life threw our way.

At three months old, he broke his leg, and that’s when we learned the heartbreaking truth: his bones were deteriorating, his cartilage wasn’t forming correctly, and his hips weren’t even in their sockets. Most would have given up on a dog with a diagnosis like that… but Buckley didn’t.

Buckley fought like no other.

He fought every single day to be happy, to keep going, and to squeeze every bit of joy out of life. And he taught me how to keep going too — how to never give up, no matter how hard life gets. His strength became my strength. His courage became my reminder that even when things hurt, you keep moving.

Despite everything he lived with, Buckley was the happiest dog I have ever met. I am so proud of him. For six unforgettable years, I gave him the best life I possibly could, and he gave me more than I ever knew a dog could give.

He taught me patience, loyalty, resilience, and unconditional love. I’ve never been touched more deeply by any soul than his. When he swam, he was completely free — weightless, joyful, glowing. His joy was so powerful that even strangers online could feel it. His story is absolutely amazing, and if anyone wants to see how incredible he was, you can see six years of our journey together on Facebook.

Losing him broke something inside me. When I had to put him down, my world collapsed. I moved to Utah trying to heal and rebuild, but instead I walked into another storm. I ended up in a damaging relationship where someone I trusted took advantage of me and stole $30,000 I had worked years to save.

I’ve been sober for 22 years — and I’ve fought way too hard and come way too far to let life defeat me now. I’m not the type of person who lies or exaggerates. I’ve never lied in my life to get money from anyone, and I’m not about to start now. I’m simply a man who has been hit hard by life and truly believes he deserves the chance to get back to where he was and rebuild what was taken.

I miss Buckley every single day. I’ll never forget him. He’s in my heart forever, and I truly believe that God will bring us together again one day. That belief keeps me going.

I’m creating this fundraiser because I need the chance to rebuild — to regain stability, to breathe again, and to move forward into a life that honors the bond Buckley and I shared.

This isn’t just a fundraiser.

It’s a step toward healing.

It’s a tribute to a dog who refused to quit.

It’s a way for me to keep going, the same way Buckley did.

If you’ve ever lost someone who was your heart…

If you’ve ever felt life hit you again when you were already down…

If you’ve ever needed one break, one chance, one hand reaching out…

Then I hope my story reaches you.

Any support — a donation, a share, or a prayer — means more to me than words can say.

Thank you for reading this.

Thank you for caring.

And thank you for helping me take the next step forward.

— Mark
