Recovery after a flood
To know me is to know I haaaaate asking anyone for ANYTHING. Yet, here we are. Last month my one of the two really bad flash floods caused severe damage to my unit. The lower level ( where all the living space is located flooded (for the second time in 13 mos). The force of the rushing water outside popped my neighbors windows and all that water then rushed into her unit the almost two feet+ of water that flooded her unit seeped under the walls into the other three apartments (including mine). I lost all bedroom furniture, some electronics, rugs, clothes and shoes. The insurance claim was denied because the source of the water was from "outside flood water" and therefore not a coverable loss so everything had to be replaced out of pocket.
June 25th, it happened again but this time was worse. Along with again the bedroom, the office (including laptop, tablet, printer etc) winter clothes, boots, coats, rugs and other furnishings. I have also been displaced/temporarily moved to another unit in the bldg. because they had to tear up the floors and cut out the drywall and they have yet to begin the interior repairs and have not given me a timeline. I may need to move altogether.
Several of my friends suggested I do this at different points over the past 6 weeks but I said no. I was waiting for the insurance to process this claim...the claim that was just denied again. Insurance is a scam.... and I am over it.
Every little bit counts!
