Rehabilitation Dog

Thanks for checking on my fundraiser! I am aiming to raise money to adopt a rescue dog as a "welcome home" present for my sibling. My dearest brother, Reid, was incarcerated eighteen years ago trying to protect someone. He's had a long, hard journey in prison, but I'm lucky enough to have had the pleasure of staying in contact with him the whole time! I was only a little girl when he left, yet despite that I have always felt deeply and sincerely loved and treasured by him through all these years. I can personally attest to the great lengths he's gone to ensure he's educated, patient, and a better, more controlled man than the past.

At the end of this year, 2026, he will finally be getting released and is anxiously anticipating the confusing and difficult transition back into typical society. As a member of the prison dog program many times over, where inmates train and care for rescues to foster empathy and responsibility, this last year Reid has bonded deeply with one of the puppies. Her name is Daisy. They've become closely bonded and they find great joy and solace in one another. He wants to officially adopt her-- Both to continue loving her and also to have a reliable, safe emotional support tie to help him with the struggles that come with getting released from prison. She will be his therapy dog and a reminder of where he just came from: He found her in prison and he doesn't ever want to go back.

In the time he's been incarcerated, our family has moved across country. The program his dog is apart of cannot hold her for him until the end of the year, so my parents and I are willing to home her early until she can be released into his care later this year. However, that means we have to pay the transportation fees... If you have known the love and companionship of a pet during your life, please consider donating to my fund so I can bring my brother's dreams to life and give him the gift of keeping his dog!
