Help resolve our debts
ABOUT MY MOM
My mom's name is Joy. She is all-but the sole income of our household. She works very hard and loves us very much, but she's visibly losing hope for good things happening to her. She had a car accident a few weeks ago which totaled her car. Thankfully, they left with very little injuries.
ABOUT MY DAD
My dad's name is Mike. He has heart problems, and has had open heart surgery a long time ago. In their car accident, he broke 2 staples in his chest (not life threatening, but extremely concerning), along with dislocating a finger. He cannot work at all due to postural hypotension (dizziness when standing up and sitting down), poor stamina, and a low maximum lift weight from his doctor. He's applied for disability, but you know how the government is right now.
ABOUT MY GRANDPA
My grandpa's name is also Mike, but I call him "pa mike". He is a sweet elderly man that has difficulty walking. He also has diabetes, and he struggles to keep his blood sugar steady. My dad takes care of him.
ABOUT ME
I'm Bek. I'm 19, and I'm their daughter. I have had many medical emergencies over my lifetime. I got hit by a basketball at my old school, which led to me getting a TBI. I've developed long-term memory loss, minor short-term memory loss, epilepsy, and mood swings. I take medication for this, but it's still difficult for me to get/keep a job to help her pay for things.
WHY SO MUCH? (BUDGET BREAKDOWN)
56,000 - Medical fees. This includes (but not exclusively) 2 MRIs, 3 or 4 ambulance rides, fee from taking too many ambulance rides (yes that is REAL), various specialty doctors (neurologist for my epilepsy, orthopedic, ect.) and our medication we take every day (plus more, since my mom has been diagnosed with MORE things). This is from loose math over many years rounded into an even number.
22,000 - Legal fees for her car accident. She's purposefully not given me an actual accurate number, but she once said something around 20,000 dollars for her legal fees fighting the insurance company for them to, bare minimum, pay the down-payment on her car that was totaled. They didn't.
10,000 - Credit card debt from using credit to pay for necessities to cover her interest, which only gave her more debt...
7,000 - The remaining down-payment on her totaled car.
6,000 - 10,000 - Buying her a new car, since she doesn't have one now.
5,000 - Various other fees/living expenses.
I don't expect to reach my goal, but any donation will help us get closer to being debt free.
