Hi,

I'm Blanca Castillo. I feel ashamed for asking for help, but in this case, I really need it and I'm not sure where else to turn. My fiancé David was killed in a road rage incident on June 15, 2022. He left the house and 45 minutes later, he was gone from our lives forever. Since that day, things have been falling apart around me, from my home to my mental state. David was my rock, my best friend, and my other half. He was always fixing things around the house, he was a great hands on father and provider for our two girls , and my other two children especially my son who is autistic and without him around things have been so overwhelming for not only myself but for our 4 babies. It rips my heart out everytime our babies cry over him, which is often. I'm waiting on survivor benefits to come through, but I'm struggling to receive anything due to grey areas in the law. I worked in healthcare for twenty-five years and during the COVID epidemic while pregnant with our last daughter on a COVID unit but I ended up losing my job. I don't have family here or much of an income right now outside of babysitting here and there.

I am a mother of 4 biological children and I'm also helping to raise 4 of my friends kids. I'm struggling to keep food on the table and pay bills. I'm on the verge of completely losing my home, vehicle, and everything else we worked hard for our whole adult life.

On top of that, my home has damage to the ceiling in multiple rooms, mold forming where leaks happened on the roof, and just a lot of interior/exterior damage in general. I don't have the money to afford repairs. At this point I'm strongly considering moving out of the home and into a place to rent.

Roof Replacement - $16k

Interior/Exterior Repairs - $5k

Bills- $9k

With hurricane season approaching, I'm concerned that my home being in the condition it is, we won't safely weather the storms.
