Retiree Robbed by Scammer

Embarrassing but true, I am a crime victim of the most stupid sort. For any of you hoping to see me get taken down a notch or two-- your wish is granted. Against all intelligence and knowledge. I fell for a gift card scam in a major way. How could I be so stupid? I will be asking myself that question for the rest of my life.

Yes, they are master social engineers and manipulators, but HOW COULD I FALL FOR THIS? I was convinced that they were genuine Facebook customer support and security team people helping me fix what they said was a serious problem of someone selling illegal bitcoin and crypto currency through my Facebook ID. I got their contact information right off of their page [Facebook Help Center Team] on Facebook. You would think FB would police their own name and site, but they don't. Reality? I got robbed for a considerable amount. I am so ashamed and humiliated.

Why should anyone support my cause? I'm not a cute kid that needs life-saving surgery. I'm not a nice family that lost everything in a home fire. I'm just a retiree on a fixed income that got taken in by a well-known scam and got taken to the cleaners. I'm hoping that you will help me because somewhere, somehow in the past I helped you when you needed it. Maybe it was financially. Maybe it was that I did took care of something for you. Maybe I stepped up on your behalf when no one else would. Maybe I made you smile when you really needed to smile. Maybe I can be a lesson for total strangers to not think you got it all down by yourself and really should ask for help.

I appreciate all who read this and consider donating. And an extra special big chunk of gratitude to those that do donate.
