Riley's pool refurbish

*** After putting the filter and pump back together completely rebuilt, I started draining the pool. It is calcified. I'm going to have to reopen the fundraiser. I have to replace the liner. So I still have about the money to fill the pool, I'm saving that and technically we're scheduled for June 9th to have a water delivery but now I'm going to have to cancel that for the time being. I'm going to put $1,200 because I called Northeastern pools and they have a liner in stock and said that it's $750. If I can find one cheaper I will do so but I don't know how much an install is because I haven't priced that out yet. I have to make a bunch of phone calls and of course tomorrow is Saturday. Going to call a few friends that have had pools put in recently and get the names of the companies that they used. I didn't realize that it was in such bad shape. I tried to pressure wash it and scrub it but it is not coming clean. I'm going to replace Riley's picture in the pool with a picture of the lining. And that's after I scrubbed it.

**This was overwhelming! Thank you everyone who donated and shared! Now the real fun begins! Getting that pool in working order, lol. I have plenty of help from the pool store as they are very knowledgeable and making sure I get it right. The amount donated will literally keep this pool up and running for another 10 yrs! Again, I truly can't thank all of you enough for your kindness and helping me and Riley! I'm going to end the fundraiser as we more than reached our goal.

My 19-year-old son, Riley, has severe non-speaking autism and has seizures. He is currently enrolled in S2C (Spell 2 Communicate) and working very hard. This kid adores his swimming pool. It's really the only thing he has to do all summer. It makes him very happy and it makes my mama heart happy to see him laughing and enjoying himself.

I'm going to do a Free Funder for Riley to help with the cost of getting his pool up and running this year.

When we bought the house, the pool was here, and it was running beautifully when we did our tour. The previous owner had put the tarp on when he left and acted like he had closed out the pool properly. When it came time to take the tarp off is when I realized that he had let it fill up with 3 ft of leaves and then put the tarp on like he was an honest human being. My first year of pool ownership was horrendous. Second year wasn't any better. This is my third year and now I think I may have things figured out a lot better than I did.

Due to my lack of knowledge when it comes to swimming pools, I truly wasn't closing it out properly. I didn't realize that the filter needed to be completely drained so the water that was left in there froze and crushed the pipe to the lateral. I called Northeast Pools in Alliance and they told me they don't have replacement parts for my filter because it's not a Hayward brand and there are no markings on it to tell me what brand it is. To replace the filter will be $650.

I also called Strouble water haulers for pool water delivery, and they said it will be $750 for 14,000 gallons.

The ladder that came with the pool broke the first year so I also need to replace that. The cost of that is $261.14. Ladders are not cheap!

If I don't do this and get the pool up and running, then it is just a big bowl of black water sitting in my backyard collecting mosquitoes and frogs. Not to mention that pool technically belongs to Riley. It's his fun place and his joy. The kid deserves it. He truly does.
