Rob Needs a Miracle

As most of you know by now, our brother and friend Rob recently suffered a massive heart attack and went without oxygen for far too long. At this time, doctors are seeing activity in his lower brain, but very low and disorganized activity in his upper brain. Based on current testing, the prognosis is very poor. Still, we are holding space for a miracle—because as we all know, sometimes the wheel turns in ways we don’t expect—and we are honoring Rob by staying present with him through every step.

Between now and February 23, 2026, additional tests will be repeated. At that point, we will re-evaluate what is best for Rob and, most importantly, what he would want.

In the meantime, there are immediate and very real needs that must be addressed.

As we all know, Rob is a brilliant poet. He devoted his life to connection, music, art and poetry and dreamed of publishing his work. His writing—his voice—represents more than a decade of creative expression, insight, and soul. Like so many things Rob loved, his work carries truth, beauty, and a kind of quiet wisdom meant to be shared, not lost.

Right now, Rob’s legacy is in serious danger of slipping away.

Thanks to the generosity of this community, we have already raised $1,000, and we’ve been able to secure a small storage unit where the most important and irreplaceable of Rob’s belongings can be kept safe. This has bought us some crucial time—but there is still much more to do.

So far, we have located two additional storage units containing Rob’s belongings and creative work, and new fees are added each month:

  • One unit has $1,400 past due and is scheduled to be auctioned off on January 29th
  • A second unit has $675 past due and is expected to go to auction in mid-February

We also believe there may be a third storage unit, and we are actively searching for it over the next couple of weeks.

Our immediate plan is to get these units paid off so we can access them and prevent auction. Once secured, we intend to consolidate everything into a single, larger storage unit, which we will rent for approximately $150–$200 per month. This will give us the time and space to carefully go through Rob’s belongings—preserving what is truly special and meaningful, and thoughtfully identifying items that could be sold to help contribute to his ongoing care and needs.

Without immediate intervention, Rob’s art, poetry, and personal archives could be permanently lost—things that once gone, don’t always come back around.

One of Rob’s closest friends, Bodhi—who has known him for over 30 years—is applying for conservatorship of both person and estate. While Bodhi will be taking on this legal role, all major decisions will be made collectively, as a team, guided by what we believe Rob would want and what best serves his care and legacy. Rob is estranged from his only immediate family member, his sister, and despite efforts, she has not been reachable.

This is where we are asking for help.

We are coming together to raise funds to:

  • Stop the auction of Rob’s storage units and cover immediate and ongoing storage fees
  • Consolidate his belongings into a single, more affordable unit
  • Support legal costs associated with conservatorship
  • Address additional expenses related to his care and estate
  • And if funds allow, to help fulfill Rob’s long-held dream of publishing his poetry

Any amount raised beyond immediate and legal needs will go directly toward editing, producing, and publishing Rob’s poetry, so that his words can keep traveling—finding new ears, new hearts, and new meaning, just as he always hoped.

If Rob’s words have ever moved you, if you’ve shared a conversation, a song, or a long strange moment together—this is a moment to act. If Rob has ever been your friend, collaborator, or fellow traveler, then you already know: once in a while you get shown the light, and this is one of those moments to step into it.

No amount is too small. Sharing this message helps more than you know. This is about community showing up for one of our own, keeping what matters from being lost, and making sure Rob’s story doesn’t end in silence.

Thank you for holding Rob in your thoughts, prayers, and hearts. Thank you for helping us carry what he carried, and for being part of the circle around him now.

With gratitude, love, and hope,

Carly
