Roes Surgery/Car Fund
Hi everyone! We're the Roes family, and we could really use your help!
We have 7 year old triplets that we're born 3 months early, and its a miracle all three survived. While Ivy has mostly grown out of her complications from prematurity, the other two we're not so fortunate. Lilly has quadriplegic cerebral palsy, is wheelchair bound, and eats through a gtube because she is unable to swallow. She cant speak, but her joy shines brightly through her beautiful laughter! Eden also has cerebral palsy, and though she can walk, her extremely tight muscles have twisted her legs over time until she could only hobble on her toes. In spite of this she has the most positive upbeat attitude I've ever seen!
(Pictures below!)
The past 7 years have been a flurry of doctors and tests, months of hospital stays, and multiple surgeries, therapies and procedures. In February both girls had life changing orthopedic surgeries in Galveston, Texas. Eden was able to get muscles released to straighten her twisted legs, and Lilly had both hips completely reconstructed, (they started out normal, but her tight muscles pulled them so far out of place that they developed incorrectly leaving her legs tightly crossed). The hope is that it will both prevent complete dislocation and maybe someday enable her to walk. It was an extensive procedure, complete with multiple bone grafts and metal rods in her femurs- and the recovery has been more stressful and painful than any of us imagined.
As you can imagine, all of this medical intervention comes at a steep price. We're still paying on a loan from the triplets early medical expenses, with a current balance just over $20,000. The February surgeries set us back another $12,000 even after insurance, and that's not counting all the follow up trips, ongoing therapy, and potential future surgeries before we're done.
Then yesterday, as we were driving back to Galveston for the girls 4 month post operative follow up- our car broke down leaving us stranded in Amarillo. It will be more expensive to repair than the car is worth. So now we're looking for a way to get home, a way to salvage our trip if possible (especially since our 4 day airbnb is non refundable!), and a new-to-us vehicle that will work with our family's special needs. Eventually we will need a fully handicap‐adapted van, but we're hopeful we can get by on something less expensive for now!
Caring for these sweet girls is already a daunting task, but in spite of our best efforts, this financial burden has made it seem overwhelmingly impossible. We just can't keep up, and we're not able to be the parents we want to be with the constant financial stress hanging over our heads. Its time we asked for help.
We appreciate anything you feel able to give, and ask that you please share our campaign with anyone you feel may be willing to help. We know Covid has made finances tough for so many, and we don't want to burden anyone. But we also know there is great power in numbers- Even $5 donations can have a huge impact if there's a thousand people donating! So please use your powers of social media to get this out wherever you can! Every little bit adds up- and your efforts could completely transform the lives of these brave little girls.
With Love and Gratitude,
The Roes Family
