For three previous generations, our family has called Waukegan home.

We’ve celebrated milestones here. We've held public office here. We’ve endured illness here. We've suffered loss here. And we’ve leaned on our neighbors and community when we needed strength.

Now it’s our generation's turn.

We’re transforming our family’s property into a warm, welcoming community space where young adults and struggling families can build the life skills they need to rise—confident, capable, and connected.

What We’re Creating:

Granny McGuire's will be a nonprofit, community-rooted hub for:

✅ Life Skills Workshops – financial literacy, bookkeeping, home economics, gardening, business skills, more

✅ English Language Classes – Helping new residents find their voice and thrive

✅ Cultural Events – Celebrating the richness of Waukegan’s diverse community

✅ Third Space Gathering Room – A safe place to host a dinner party, study with friends, or just breathe

✅ Short-Term Living Space – Temporary help for families in transition due to crisis, eviction, or hardship

This is not a handout. It’s a foundation—a space that teaches dignity, resilience, and independence.

Why We Need Your Help:

Though the property is already paid off, it needs significant updates to become the safe, functional community haven we envision.

Your donation will help us:

• Completely update electrical, HVAC, plumbing systems, and kitchen space
• Repair the front porch damaged by a drunk driver and replace an aging wheelchair ramp.
• Furnish two bedrooms, a community dining room, an office, a kitchen, and shared gathering space
• Finish the work in time for a Spring 2026 grand opening
• Long Term Goal: Rebuild the garage to include an additional upstairs micro-unit for families in crisis
