Dear Givers,

We have exciting news! On September 15, 1922, our family matriarch Rosie Lee Franklin was born. With a bit of quick figuring, yep, you guessed it, she's celebrating her centennial birthday this month on September 15, 2022!

Rosie was born in Arkansas, moved to Chicago, IL at a young age, and remained there for over 75 years until 2018, when she relocated to southern California to be cared for by her granddaughter and her family.  Rosie is history (or herstory) on 2 feet!  She is a survivor of plantation life, a widow of a WWII Veteran, a beloved member of her church since her teen years, and a great great grandmother, among many other things.  Rosie has lived through walks of life that many only know about by way of history books & documentaries, and she can still tell many of the stories!  These days, she enjoys going for rides, reading the newspaper & gossip papers (Star & Enquirer), crocheting, and she'll never turn down a meal that includes shrimp.    

We are now less than 2 weeks away from the big day, and just recently she said, 

"I'm gonna get back to my church (in Chicago), and they're not gonna carry me in, I'm gonna walk in!"  

This statement alone, is just cause for us to push extra hard and turn every stone to make her 100th birthday wish come true.  

Would you consider making a donation to assist us in giving her the birthday that she desires and well deserves?  Because there have been some in-kind sponsorships that have covered chunks of the cost, we have a reduced, updated goal of $4,000.  With your assistance, accomplishing this goal will be a smooth seamless process.  No amount is too small, and we will provide pictures & updates!
