Rebuild Rene

Rene Rushatsi and family moved into their new Rowlett home just three months prior to the December 26th tornado of 2015. Unfortunately the EF4 tornado destroyed their home and the storm has yet to let up.
Rene's story has been told by WFAA, http://www.wfaa.com/mobile/article/news/contractor-abandons-tornado-victim-in-rowlett/455665056
It is a losing battle with a thief, it is unlikely Rene will ever receive a dime from GCH, even with costly legal actions. But the biggest slap in the face, is that one local contractor could do this a neighbor, after all we have been through. After we all took extra precautions, trying to hire locals with hopes of keeping the "storm chasers" away, one of our own slipped through the cracks and took advantage of this family. It is heartbreaking.
The only real solution, at this point, is to focus on rebuild efforts and/or funding.
Being home is the priority.
As of September 8th, the city relief funds will expire and Rene's chances of receiving assistance are slim, unless he can prove he is able to complete the rebuild.
So I'm asking all of you, as a community, as your neighbor, as a fellow Texan, American, Human...let's help this family get home. Let's help the Rushatsi's to rise out of this storm and to finally see a silver lining. It is possible.
We need to raise about 50k in building cost for this family to return home.

Thank you for reading, please share this with your friends and neighbors. God bless and don't forget, we are  #RowlettStrong

UPDATE August 23, 2018:
Hey everybody, it has been over a year since we started this campaign. I know most of you are familiar with Rene's story, but for those who arent, please take a moment to look over our page Rebuild4Rene
It is thanks to you all, and Selden Custom Homes, this rebuid has been possible. Selden has been so patient with this family as they make sacrifices and pinch every penny they can.
This picture was taken two days ago, as you can see the house is nearly done, the family has really been feeling the love and so grateful for the blessings this community has prayed for and/or brought upon them.
At this time, we are trying to raise 25k to finish this house and MY HOPE is that we can have them home by Christmas. For 2.5 years Rene has worked non-stop to pay rent, pay a mortage, and replace the insurance money stolen from him, so he can rebuild this house. Essentially he's got 3 mortages.. He is a TROOPER, obviously strong-willed, and I think this is exactly the kind of character we can all appreciate having in our awesome little city.
So I beg you guys, please share this post, if you have anything to spare please donate. $2 may not seem like much to you, but for this family it can make an impact as they struggle month to month, praying for a light at the end of the tunnel.
Thank you all for taking the time to read this, and dont forget NORTH TEXAS GIVING DAY is coming up soon!
